The Pauline S. Carl Memorial fund was established in July 2007 by the friends and family of Pauline Steinbrunn Carl, a much-loved elementary school teacher in Schuylkill County for many years.
When Pauline's family was looking for a way to honor her memory, they asked the Eagle Foundation to help them establish a Scholarship that would be awarded to a Blue Mountain student intent on majoring in Elementary Education or pursuing a degree in Education.
Pauline was married to Robert S. Carl, Sr., and had two children, both of whom were Blue Mountain graduates: Linda C. Martier, '76 and Robert S. Carl, Jr., '72. She was a proud grandmother to three wonderful grandchildren: Chad R. and Corey A. Martier, Camp Hill; and Alexandria N. Carl, Orwigsburg. Alexandria is a 2007 Blue Mountain graduate and an Eagle Foundation Merit Scholarship winner.
She was devoted to her family, friends, profession, and numerous civic and charitable organizations. She was associated with, including: The Orwigsburg Lionettes, The Fort Lebanon Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Mahantongo Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, The Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, the Regents Club of Northeastern Pennsylvania, the Huguenot Society of Pennsylvania, Orwigsburg Chapter 424 Order of the Eastern Star, The Orwigsburg Cancer Drive, and the Orwigsburg Area Bicentennial Committee.
Son Robert S. Carl, Jr. said, "In addition to her zest for life, Mom had a love for learning and always reminded us that no one can take away your education. The establishment of this memorial is a fitting tribute to her. We know she would be pleased about the many ways the Blue Mountain Eagle Foundation creates special opportunities for learning and rewards in excellence in education for all students."
